Bill Gates has amassed an extensive — and high value — real estate portfolio. Last year, the homes owned by Gates and his former wife, Melinda French Gates, racked up a $2.7 million property tax bill last year. That's more than 700 times as much as the average American pays in property taxes each year. Gates' highest property tax bill is in Washington state, where he has a 10.5-acre property in the tony Seattle suburb of Medina along Lake Washington. While high by most standards, Gates' property tax bill represents less than 0.01% of his $148 billion net worth — and a fraction of his total tax bill.

The rise of AI has elicited fear that the technology will eliminate millions of jobs around the world. The International Monetary Fund this week reported that about 40% of jobs around the world could be affected by the rise of AI. Career changes can be hard, even for Bill Gates — who credits a simple, lifelong habit for his switch from a narrow-minded, decades-long focus on computers and software to international philanthropy. "I had a long period from about age 18 to 40 where I was very monomaniacal ... Microsoft was everything," Gates, 68, recently told comedian Trevor Noah on the "What Now? "I was lucky enough that as other people took over Microsoft, I got to go and read and learn about all the health challenges, why children die." With even more time to read, he researched ongoing global health crises and decided to make the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation his primary focus, he said. "Reading fuels a sense of curiosity about the world, which I think helped drive me forward in my career and in the work that I do now with my foundation," Gates told Time in 2017.

The two announced their divorce in 2021 but committed to continuing to work together at the foundation. I think we will overcome that because the U.S. has a lot to be proud on this one,” Gates said. It’s been about a decade since Brown’s research popularized the term “gray divorce” to describe this phenomenon – something that used to be a rarity, but now has become much more common. They dubbed it “the gray divorce revolution.”And it’s still going strong, both for celebrities and everyday people. Rather than “gray divorce,” Myres says she prefers the term “silver splitters,” because it also alludes to the silver lining of starting fresh, no matter how old you are. Financial difficulties after “gray divorce” are a problem Brown says she and other researchers have been studying, too. In the first couple of years after a “gray divorce,” Brown says, about 50% of people end up living alone.

Melinda Gates wants more women in the AI race

New York CNN —As Silicon Valley and beyond is gripped by the fervor of artificial intelligence, Melinda French Gates is raising the alarm that more women must be involved in developing these tech tools. AI models have long taken heat for their ability to perpetuate biases, especially around women and people of color. The new crop of generative AI tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Dall-E are trained on vast troves of online data – data that often carries the same biases as humans. In her interview with Harlow, Gates also revealed that she never endorses specific candidates because she votes for both sides of the aisle. “Too often we have decisions being made for women, not by women,” Gates said.

A clip that seemingly shows Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates endorsing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the presidency was digitally created but has been shared online as if authentic. In the video, Gates can partly be heard saying the following: “We simply have to push forward with the great reset, or everything will be lost. That’s why I support Ron DeSantis as our next president” (here), (here), (here). The video circulating online was seemingly created by Twitter users @C3PMeme and @Ramble_Rants, whose handles are included in the graphics at the bottom of the video. There is no evidence Gates has endorsed or expressed support for DeSantis as of this article’s publication (tinyurl.com/4rtaddcb).
Bill Gates never finished his undergraduate degree — the billionaire dropped out of Harvard University after three semesters to start Microsoft. Not much, personally, to be honest," Gates told students at Northern Arizona University's commencement ceremony on Saturday. If Gates had finished college, these are "the five things I wish I was told at the graduation I never had," he said. Gates did work at Microsoft for a long time: He was the company's CEO until 2000, and board director until 2014. 'Don't underestimate the power of friendship'One of Gates' biggest college regrets, he told Harvard students in 2018: Not being sociable enough.
His top interviewing tip is to knock the "question" question out of the park. Job candidates are focused on giving the right answers. My top interviewing tip is to knock the "question" question out of the parkSometimes, job candidates say they don't have any questions. Can you prove that you did your due diligence and have the competencies needed in the job you're applying for? Interviewers want to see candidates think specifically about this sector, this organization, and this role.

"99 and a fraction percent of my net worth in Berkshire," Buffett told "Squawk Box," adding that multiple of his family members also heavily invest in the company. "I worry about things nobody else worries about, but I can't solve them all," Buffett said. As for feeling secure about Berkshire's future, Buffett has already handpicked his company's next CEO — and his successor, Greg Abel, has said he doesn't plan to diverge from Buffett's winning formula.

He gave $1.7 billion to the organization last year, bringing his lifetime charitable donations to more than $14 billion, according to the site. MacKenzie Scott launched a $250 million "open call" for nonprofits. She plans to make 250 donations of $1 million apiece through her organization, Yield Giving. However, Scott's charity is now asking nonprofits to tell them why they should get a $1 million donation from a $250 million pot of cash. Jeff Bezos's ex-wife says the "open call" will support 250 "organizations making positive change in their communities."
